One of our earlier blog posts introduced you to the vision which gave life to Perana Set Design. Today we’re following that up with some insight into our mission as a brand to strengthen South Africa’s local economy. Very bold, some may say, but it’s exactly the kind of ambition that we’ve seen change history before.
A vision is like a picture: it must be so massive, so captivating, so divine that everyone who looks at it is drawn in by the power of its sheer beauty and magnificence. But if hung over water, a non-swimmer is robbed of the opportunity to get up close and personal with that breath-taking beauty. A mission is something like that little wooden boat: a safe and reliable way of moving closer to the vision and experiencing the magic of perhaps touching it and making the visual become tangible.
Perana Set Design is hungry for an economically stronger South Africa and one of the ways our team really strives to achieve that is through our unique event decor workshops, where anyone of any background can come and learn the skills we’ve developed for over more than 12 years. We are in the business of providing an approachable, interactive and worthwhile platform to aspiring business owners and hobbyists. Our mission is to educate as many people as we can about what this industry is all about, and what it takes to thrive within it.
Since 2015 we have partnered with several venues in and around Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Cape Town to bring valuable skills to so many communities (Gauteng, we’ll be seeing you soon). We intend to widen and deepen our reach to help people support each other instead of feeding money into virtual vacuums in which staff are overworked and underpaid. With our recent successes in two very different provinces, we hope to bring our expertise, passion, and guidance to more deserving residents across the other seven regions.
