OUR STORY

Perana Set Design like most other companies originated from humble beginnings. In 1999 the owner Naven procured some material from a friend who was emigrating for the mere cost of R300. With just a bunch of material and no previous draping experience, he began to try and construct basic draping styles on the washing line in his back yard. Initially family and friends recognised his passion and dedication as well as talent and so he was hired to co-ordinate small functions. Naven was soon approached by Nando’s through a mutual acquaintance who asked him to decorate two branches on two occasions: the first being Valentines Day and the second being Mother’s Day. Being a religious person Naven engaged in the act of ‘seva’ which means ‘to give back to the community’ which he did by organising and draping venues for memorial prayers for the community at no cost.

Through the growing recognition and success, Naven decided to open his own business in the field of events management and décor in 2015 and Perana Set Design was officially registered in 2017. To date the work of this company has been greatly appreciated and has thus enabled the expansion from purely coordinating events to hosting workshops aimed at enabling other South Africans to empower themselves by learning various trade skills which would equip them to open their own enterprise someday. These workshops also assist other businesses in training their workers so that every worker is well prepared and adequately equipped to deal with the details of the trade.

The company has thus far experienced exponential growth through the dedication that Naven has shown which has allowed him to increase the size and reach of his business. His passion and attention to detail is reflected explicitly in whatever he sets his mind to and will clearly be reflected in all events created with Perana Set Design.
